New unreleased game
« on: October 09, 2007, 03:19:27 PM »
Just to announce that I have a copy of the CD game TimeCop on MegaDrive (game not released but completed).

I'd like to know where I could post it ?

Very interesting, where did you get it from?
What do you mean by "I'd like to know where I could post it ?", where on the forum to talk about it?, or do you want to post the actual disk to someone for duplication purposes?

It's simple: I was the MegaDrive coder.
It was converted from the Super Nintendo version, and we added some cinematics, encoded in Sega's animation format + music on the CD.

Since I have the CD, I can create an ISO. Are there repositories for ISO of MegaCD games ?

Is it not available elsewhere? If not, I'll be happy to host it until I get off my rear and finish the main site so Peder can host it. :)

I've got a few GiB of space free, so the size of an ISO image won't be a problem - unless there's a need to host a few dozen. Then things get tricky. :)

No, the game was never released.
I'll try to build the ISO and post it on my site.
I'll publish the URL here, but I cannot store the game on my site.

Any luck making it available so I can get a copy for this site?

* Aypok is looking forward to giving it a spin. :)

Ok, I found the disk.
The zipped ISO takes 169 Mb.
I plan to release the game for the Retro-gaming Connexion 2007 (27th and 28th October 2007).
I'll post the link here after the party.

Don't expect too much about the game, it's not very good.
But the music is much better than the Super Nintendo's version  ;)

You can download the zip file here:

http://euler.free.fr/MegaCD/TimeCop.zip

Tell me if it works, since I cannot test the game.
The disk was in very good state.

Thanks for that - it's very much appreciated. I've now put a copy on my server (until the Sega16bit server is sorted): http://www.aypok.co.uk/downloads/TimeCop.zip

I'll give it a go on my my Mega CD once I get home. :)

Do you know what region this is coded for?

No, I don't remember.
The CD was running on a DevKit.

I've just tested it on my European Mega CD and it does indeed work fine. The CDDA tracks were just static noise, but I think it may have just burnt wrong. The game loads and plays fine.

Many thanks for sharing this with us!

It seems that the default region coding is for the US. If anyone's interested in modifying it to work on a European system, change offset 0x200 (in 'TimeCop.bin') to 0x45 ("E", in ASCII). Thanks to PlayGeneration for that! :)
